Heating &
Cooling:
Before considering your automation options it’s
best to design or convert your home to make the best use of
solar energy and natural ventilation for passive heating and
cooling. We have included on our Web Sites page resources to
aid you in your design.
Analyse your needs and how to manage them, assessing which
rooms need to be heated/cooled, when and to what temperature.
Then plan your automation system by - considering how use of
blinds, awnings, windows and vents can aid passive heating
/cooling and natural lighting; exploring how switching on and
off fans and heat shifters might reduce need for
heating/cooling; and considering how better temperature and
timing of use can minimize the energy used in heaters and
coolers.
Once you have done this we can help you decide on your specific
automation needs. A
well-designed automation system can include Smart sensors to
detect temperature and light levels, integrated heating/cooling
to optimize energy use through temperature controls; blind
controls set to open or close based on times or light/heat
levels; Smart glass which turns from transparent to opaque as
required; and Smart meters to let you view electricity, gas and
water consumption in real time.
